The main section of CADS fencing club is primarily aimed at adults, although junior members (from 13 years) are also accepted. All fencers mush have British Fenicing Association membership.

The club meeting times are as follows:

Monday at Highwoods
19:30 to 22:30

Friday at Highwoods
20:00 to 22:00

The club is closed on bank holidays and there is a two week break during the summer.

All three of the fencing weapons are taught and tuition is usually given on a one to one basis. From time to time we run beginner courses, but there is no need to wait for one of these, just come along and have a go.

The clubs first coach is Bob Bales. Bob coaches all three weapons and has a wealth of experience. His preferred weapon is Sabre, although he also coahces foil and epee.

The clubs second coach is Lyndon Taylor, who also is very experienced. His preferred weapon is epee, although he is also coaches foil and sabre. Lyndon plays a large part in the organisation of the club and also produces our newsletter.

In addition to Bob and Lyndon we also have coaches: Peter Brackin, Alan Dann, Paul Galaway, Tina Staples and Margaret Warner .

On a normal club night, lessons will be given on an individual basis. All members are equally entitled to a lesson and a lesson time table ensures that the system is fair. Members generally fence one another using an electric scoring apparatus. This is good practice for competitions and we have several sets of apparatus so that there is little waiting around.
